What stump grinding includes
A stump grinder chews the stump into wood chips with a spinning cutting wheel, so the stump is gone without digging out the whole root ball. The job covers:
- Grinding the stump down below the level of the ground.
- Surface roots near the stump ground down too, when they're in the way.
- Cleaning up the area when the grinding is done.
Grinding or full stump removal?
Grinding takes the stump down below the ground and leaves the deeper roots to break down on their own. Full removal pulls the root ball out, which leaves a big hole and takes heavy equipment. For most yards, grinding is all you need.
